1. General information about Cookies.
The Privacy Policy Statement is an integral part of the following Cookie Policy, including the rights the user is able to exercise by contacting the addresses already provided.
Pursuant to Reg. EU 679/2016, and under the provisions of the Italian Personal Data Supervisory Authority introduced by its ruling dated 8.05.2014 establishing simplified procedures for information and consent concerning the use of cookies – Published in Italian Official Journal no. 126 of 3.06.2014 – and with regard to all subsequent explanations, the data controller provides its Cookie Policy by means of this statement. The Cookie Policy is intended to provide the user with all information relating to art. 13 of REG. EU 679/2016, together with a specific analytical description of the purposes of the cookies installed in the website, enabling the user to select/deselect individual cookies. Data processing by means of cookies is carried out by automated means and the data storage period depends on the nature of the cookie used.

About cookies.
Cookies are small strings of codes that the sites the user visits send to his or her terminal (normally the browser: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.), where they are stored to be retransmitted to the same sites whenever necessary or the next time the same user visits them.

Why they are useful.
Through the use of cookies, the website visited recognises the user’s device, and this improves the navigation experience. The various purposes of cookies include that of enabling users to navigate effectively between the pages of the website, reminding him of his favourite websites, memorising languages, etc.; cookies also help to ensure that the advertising contents displayed online are more targeted to the user’s specific interests.

The classification of cookies.
Cookies are classified in various types: depending on duration cookies may be session cookies, which are automatically erased when the browser is shut down, or persistent, meaning they are active until their expiry date or until they are erased by the user; with regard to origin, cookies may be first-party, or sent to the browser directly by the site being visited, or third-party, meaning they are sent to the browser by other sites and not the site being visited.
With regard to purpose, cookies may be technical or profiling. In view of its importance, it is worth taking a more detailed look at this distinction to make it absolutely clear.
Technical cookies are used to improve the user’s navigation experience. In fact, without the use of technical cookies, some operations would be very complex or even impossible. These cookies – which may be first- or third-party, session or permanent – do not need the user’s prior consent for their installation.
Technical cookies are “strictly necessary” when they allow the user to navigate the website effectively and make use of its essential characteristics, such as IT authentication or the saving of previous actions. If the use of these cookies is blocked, the user’s navigation experience could be impaired.
Technical cookies are „functional“ when they improve the navigation experience by saving the user’s preferences, such as language, name and location. If these cookies are blocked, the navigation experience will not be impaired but the user will no longer be able to benefit from these useful services.
Technical cookies are „analytical“ when they allow the collection of information about how users interact with the website, by analysing the number of pages visited, the time spent on the website, the most visited pages and any other issues which emerge during navigation, such as any errors originating from the page visited. These cookies enable the website’s owner to obtain statistical data concerning navigation and to improve the services offered to the user. Analytical cookies are classified as technical – not profiling – only when the website’s owner has adopted suitable measures to reduce the identifying power of the analytical cookies used, by masking significant portions of the IP address.
The user’s prior consent is not required for the installation of technical cookies and therefore – if the website only uses technical cookies – the data controller is not obliged to acquire consent by means of a cookie banner. However, the full cookie policy statement (which you are reading now) is compulsory.
Profiling cookies, on the other hand, are only activated with the user’s consent. Consent is issued by clicking “OK” (or “continue”, etc.) on the banner on the
homepage or another page of the same website. Profiling cookies are used to improve the services offered and to select and send advertising on the basis of the preferences and tastes expressed by the user during navigation. The use of profiling cookies to send targeted advertising does not imply the display of more advertising and does not interfere with the navigation experience. In fact, if profiling cookies are disabled, a user will only see general advertising, instead of advertising in line with his interests.
Third-party statistical-analytical cookies without IP masking and without data cross-matching are classified as profiling cookies. Marketing, advertising, tracking or conversion cookies are also profiling cookies.

2. Selecting or disabling cookies.
Subject to the user’s prior consent in the case of the installation of profiling cookies, most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. Cookies can be limited or blocked by modifying the browser settings.
